Faux Leather Redo

My Sis, DPM, gave me  a beautiful bronze purse some years ago after she'd returned from a vacation. I would only use the purse on special occasions.  Well, you know the saying, "Use it or lose it." Though I rarely used the purse, the times that I would I began noticing the leather was peeling. It got so bad that I was leaving a trail of leather crumbs everywhere I walked.
When I told Sis about it she said,  "Just throw it away. It isn't real leather."
I didn't want to do that. It was special to me and it had beautiful hardware.

Of course I turned to the sage of all sages (if it was a person), GOOGLE who passed me off to YOUTUBE.

I came across a video at  Kelly Barlow Creations.  She'd redone a faux leather desk chair that had started to peel.   After viewing her video I ordered the product from Amazon. Each bottle was about $7.00.

It would seem that 4 oz. wouldn't be enough but I had some left over.
BEFORE
I applied about 3 coats, allowing the paint to dry before adding another coat. It dries fast (about 30 minutes) so the task isn't laborious.

                                                                AFTER

After all coats had dried I applied 3 coats of the Acrylic Finisher. The yellow you see in the side picture is newspaper I had stuffed inside the purse.

I think it came out well. There are some places if you look closely you can see flaws. But, that's just the sign of a well loved article.  I'm back in business with my bronze handbag.

Cabbage Casserole

I wanted another way to prepare cabbage. That's when I came across Cabbage Casserole. I watched several videos on Cabbage Casserole. After watching the one by Brenda Gant  I chose her method.  Brenda Gant is a  folksy woman. You'd think you were there in her kitchen  drinking a glass of sweet tea as she prepares the dish and tells interesting stories along with her cooking.

This dish goes by other names and variations. Cabbage pie,  Cabbage and beef casserole, Cheesy Cabbage Casserole with Sausage. Some include tomatoes, mushrooms and other add-ons.  I wanted the simple one.

These are the ingredients.

Roughly chop the cabbage and place in a greased casserole dish.

Mix, mayonnaise, cream of chicken soup and butter
in a bowl and set it to the side.

In another bowl mix the cheese, crumbled crackers and melted butter.  This will be your topping.

Spread the chicken soup, mayo, butter mixture all over the
top of the cabbage.

Sprinkle the cheese, butter, cracker crumb topping on top of the creamy topping. Place in the oven on 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until the casserole is bubbling and the topping is golden brown.

This casserole was delicious but, here and there it was a bit salty. I discovered that the most saltiness was in the crust.  I will make it again but, only after changing  the above mentioned things I noted in the recipe.

That's it.***

Barking Bee Coffee Shop

☕☕☕☕☕☕☕

I'd heard about three new businesses not far from me that had opened. One of them is a coffee shop. From past posts you know I'm a coffee drinker. Of course I had to check it out . They did not disappoint.

My caramel latte was exactly the way I’d

requested. The staff along with its owner are friendly and take pride in their craft. Stylish green décor adds to the ambience and echoes its environmentally friendly ethics. From previous posts you know I am all for recycling, upcycling and respecting the earth. The green corrugated cups require no sleeve and are compostable as well as the green pasta straws. I will be returning.

Here's a 360 (unedited) of the inside. I'm loving the green sofa.😘

Prices are comparable to those of other coffee shops. Pastries and scones are also on the menu though I didn't have any. Outdoor seating is also available.

They also;

  •  Cater
  •  Have gift inventory
  •  Do  personalized coffee blends with personalized labels
  •  Sell their coffees by the bag and in pods.
Much success to this new small business.
